Why did you want to work at 3L Care?I had been working in the area of complex health needs for 15 years and was ready for a fresh challenge. There was something special about 3L Care from the very beginning and I felt I could really make a difference to the lives of disabled young adults here. The level of care offered at 3L Care is equal to anywhere I have ever worked and I have been used to a very high standard of care within a children’s hospice. For children and young adults with complex health needs that need live-in care or respite, there should be no compromises. The staff and management team here are fantastic so it was a very easy decision to make. What is the best thing about your job? This is definitely the easiest question to answer because I love my job! In particular it is the time I get to spend with the young adults in our care. They really are remarkable and often remind me about the importance of life’s little joys. The working environment at 3L Care is incredibly friendly and I get to work with a team of nurses and careers who are confident, experienced and passionate about what we do. Tell us about a typical working day…Each day is different but I always start by having a catch up with the staff and by popping around to say hi to everyone in our care that day. That way I know that everyone is OK and ready for a new day. Part of my job is to respond to calls, partake in teaching and training, visiting clients homes to do referrals and assessments, staff supervision, rota, emails and queries from professionals and parents. The rest of the day is always entirely unpredictable but I spend a lot of my time liaising with social workers, health commissioners – telling them about 3L Care and listening to what they need help with. We adhere to Care Quality Commission standards which also involves a lot of planning and work. What does ‘Live Love Laugh’ mean to you? Those three little words are what we are all about and I try my best to embrace every single day in that spirit. Caring for young adults with complex health needs who need full-time, respite or just daycare should be about having fun and enjoying every single moment of the day. Tell us two lies and one truth about yourself…I love the gym! I get on well with pretty much everyone. I absolutely hate chocolate. |
