PRESS RELEASE: 9 JULY 2012

Respite centre plans welcomed

Following on a meeting on 5 July, the Adult Social Care Scrutiny Committee has recommended that Cheshire East Council continues to work closely with 3L Care to provide a suitable alternative to the residents of soon-to-close Queens Drive Respite Home.

The next day, 3L Care and the council met with the parents of the Queens Drive residents to discuss progress in converting one of two potential empty properties into a bespoke care facility. This was not a consultation but an informal meeting to discuss in more detail 3L Care’s offer to provide respite care for the young adults at Queens Drive, and to update families on the current position regarding the proposed alterations to Lincoln Drive.

Marcus Tarrant, director of 3L care said: “Last week’s meetings with the council, parents and the Scrutiny Committee were extremely positive; everyone is keen to make sure these young people receive the best possible care. We were able to demonstrate our expertise in this area and elaborate on our plans to develop a modern and homely care facility.”

The families are currently considering 3L Care’s plans for the new development.

“The important thing is that these families now have a viable alternative and that they are given the time to consider our proposal. If a decision is made to progress with the development of a new care facility, we will be able to deliver on our promises within a very short space of time,” said Marcus.

3L Care in Winsford, Congleton is proposing to either convert a detached council-owned bungalow in Primrose Avenue, Haslington, or provide a five-bedroom house of its own in Coppenhall, Crewe.
