Why did you want to work at 3L Care?In my 17 years of nursing I’ve worked in a wide range of environments. Just before joining 3L Care I spent my time caring for elderly people and although it was a great job, I missed the rewards you get when working with children and young adults with learning disabilities. The second I sat foot in 3L Care I felt a vibrant and positive atmosphere. I just had to work here! What is the best thing about your job?The people I’m around really make the job one of the best in the world. My colleagues are all lovely and each day I get to meet new people. Being able to share my day with an amazing group of young adults is incredibly rewarding. It is my job to ensure each and every day is full of joy and laughter. The feeling of seeing people here enjoy themselves to the fullest is truly wonderful. Tell us about a typical working day…Each morning I’ll help those who spent the night get out of bed and start the day in great spirits. Taking my time with their personal care and medication is important but so is it to make sure they wake up in a positive and relaxed atmosphere. We make breakfast and talk about how to spend the day. Everyone has different preferences and we work hard to make each day their own. My favourite activity is probably the hydrotherapy pool just because the benefits are enormous and it’s fun at the same time. For people who can’t move much on their own, the freedom of water brings out a whole new and playful dimension in their day. What does ‘Live Love Laugh’ mean to you?It means waking up every single day and getting as many positive experiences out of it as possible. Tell us two lies and one truth about yourself…My favourite activity is ironing. I do boxing in my spare time. I can speak 3 different languages. |
