Information for parents

Our professional staff have many years experience of Nursing and Social Care and we not only understand the needs of the children and young people that we care for, we also understand how important it is to work closely with their families and carers.

From your first contact with us our aim is to help you by working closely together to understand how we can provide the best quality care to the person staying with us and understanding how we can also help and support you.

We seek to understand the views and feelings children and young people who stay with us through active communication, listening to families and engaging with care staff and key professionals involved in their care. Before a person comes to stay at 3L Care, a full Care Management Assessment will be completed with them and their family and/or carer.

59 year old Dorothy lives in Moulton with her son C who is 38 and has learning difficulties. He has been a regular guest at 3L Care since December 2011 – spending about a week each month at the home in Winsford.

“My son absolutely loves the 3L Care centre. Last time he didn’t even want to come home! He particularly loves the cinema and the sensory room which is quite a unique facility,” said Dorothy.

Before the family discovered 3L Care, C faced having to go into an old people’s home for respite; an option his mother simply couldn’t accept. She said: “When it was suggested to us that my son would have to spend time in an old people’s home I simply couldn’t believe it. It would have been entirely inappropriate and I would encourage all families out there who are faced with the same scenario to challenge the local authority on such a decision.

“There simply aren’t enough places for people like my son – adults of all ages with learning difficulties – to spend quality time. We have enough challenges without having to travel for hours in search of respite and care for my son.

“Thankfully the staff at 3L Care are fantastic and my son gets on so well with them all. They make a huge effort to ensure he has a great time when he is there. For me it makes all the difference knowing that he is safe, well cared for and given every opportunity to have fun and enjoy himself.”

People that stay with us on a long term basis can choose their own room and personalise it in a way that suits them, encouraging a sense of security and belonging. We operate a "key worker" system that ensures that we provide continuity of care throughout each stay so that they have a safe, nurturing and caring experience.

Our care extends to services such as physiotherapy, aromatherapy and water therapy in our in-house swimming pool. As well as overnight stays we operate a Day Care Centre where people canget involved in different activities that enhance their quality of life including a Sensory Room, Arts & Crafts and in-house Cinema experience. We will always seek to encourage people to participate in recreational activities appropriate to their age and ability and risk assessment. All planned leisure activities will be discussed fully and included in individualised care plans.

"Our son started to visit 3L Care in February 2012. It's a lovely place with warm and friendly staff who really care. I see it already as a home from home which is an amazing achievement as he has never accessed respite care before due to my difficulty in letting him go. All credit to the staff!"
